Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced accountant with a strong background in Non Governmental Organization and Trust financial management to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all financial activities of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, and providing regular financial reports to management. Responsibilities:
- Manage all financial activities of the organization, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare and submit timely financial reports to the board.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
- Coordinate with auditors and provide necessary information for the annual audit process.
- Monitor budget performance and prepare budget vs. actual reports for management.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on financial procedures and policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience of accounting in an NGO environment.
- Knowledge of financial management principles and practices, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of accountability and integrity.
- Experience of working with donors and funding agencies, and a good understanding of compliance requirements.
- Fluency in English and Swahili required.
