The National Board of Accountants and Auditors Tanzania (NBAA) is an institution that registers and manages Accountants and Auditors and regulates the Accounting profession in the country. NBAA was established by the Accountants and Auditors Act Chapter 286 as revised in 2002. The National Board of Accountants and Auditors is under the Ministry of Finance. The board was established in 1972 and began to do its official work from January 15, 1973.
Masharti ya kujiunga Na NBAA
Since its inception, Jinsi ya Kujiunga NBAA has made a significant contribution to the development of the accounting profession in Tanzania, particularly in motivating, registering, setting standards and administration of examinations. NBAA strives to make a significant contribution to encouraging good governance through the development of the accounting profession in Tanzania.
The accounting profession plays an important role in stimulating business confidence and supporting economic growth. Kufungua account NBAA members make a significant contribution to influence the public and private sector as a professional body. Kujisajili NBAA also supports members and stakeholders through various services and provides a common voice for the profession.
Masharti ya Kujiunga NBAA Conditions for joining
- (a) ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN
- (i) Accounting Technician Level 1 exams
A prospective candidate who wants to register for the accounting technician Level 1 exams must show proof of having one of the following qualifications:
- Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with at least three credit passes and passes in Mathematics and English Language
OR
- National Business Examinations NABE stage I & II with at least the success of four subjects and a certificate of Secondary education
OR
- Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least a primary pass in one subject and a subsidiary pass in the relevant subjects, but he must have at least a pass in English and Mathematics in Secondary education,
OR
- A one-year certificate from a recognized institution with the achievement of English and mathematics “O” level before obtaining the certificate.
- And other certificates as will be identified by the Board from time to time
ii) Accounting Technician II exams
A prospective candidate who wants to register for the Accounting Technician II exams must show proof of having one of the following qualifications:
- Accounting Technician Level I success letter
- Advanced Level Secondary School Certificate for students who studied business. But they must have passed two principals
- Accounting Certificate (NTA Level 4)
- A two-year diploma without a major in Accounting – NTA Level 6
- Advanced Level Secondary Education Certificate holders who studied business and achieved success in (Bookkeeping and Commerce)
- b) PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATIONS
A prospective candidate who wants to register for the PROFESSIONAL exams must show proof of having one of the following qualifications:
(I) Foundation Level – Knowledge and Skills Level
- NBAA Accounting Technician Certificate (ATEC) II
- Two-year Diploma in Accounting or Accounting and Finance NTA Level 6
- Degree from a recognized university or Higher Education Institution (non-Accounting).
- Exemptions can be considered subject to subject depending on the candidate’s studies.
(II) Intermediate Level – skills and analysis
Holder of NBAA Foundation Level Letter of Accomplishment
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Accounting and Finance from a recognized University or Higher Education Institution.
(III) Final – Level – Analysis, Application and Evaluation
