ICAP supports large-scale, evidence-based health programs that improve services for HIV prevention, care, and treatment; tuberculosis; malaria; non-communicable diseases; reproductive health; and maternal and child health. ICAP works at every level of the health system, collaborating with national governments, district health management teams, individual health facilities, NGOs, and educational institutions to strengthen the health system and improve patient outcomes.
ICAP works with its partners to ensure that countries are able to detect, characterize, and monitor changes in population-level health. We equip ministries of health for evidence-based decision making through efforts to strengthen data quality and implement health information systems that facilitate data analysis. We are a leader in implementing surveys to generate top-level HIV statistics and measure biobehavioral markers for a fuller understanding of the HIV epidemic in each context.
Human resources development is central to ICAP’s approach to health systems strengthening. Our diverse training and mentoring programs enhance the skills of nurses, doctors, laboratorians, lay health workers, and health managers with the goal of addressing critical gaps in human resources for health.
