Location | The roles can be based in the United Kingdom or one of the following WaterAid Country Programme – Nigeria or Tanzania, subject to right-to-work eligibility in the respective countries. |
Salaries and Benefits | Salaries and benefits for different countries will vary in line with the location of the successful candidate and depending on experience. The role is within the salary banding of Grade 5 in the UK and Grade E in the Country Programme. |

For the UK location, we offer Hybrid Working – A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in the London office or as a result of an external engagement or travel for WaterAid. WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base for candidates based in the United Kingdom.

As our Digital Editor (PPA), you will develop and deliver user-focused content on WaterAid’s global websites and social channels, creating high-quality, strategic material which supports our organisational priorities. In this role, you will engage with and lead internal stakeholders from Policy and campaigns, programme support and country programme teams to plan and produce inspiring, engaging content to support our policy, practice and advocacy and communications goals.
- Manage the day-to-day production and distribution of content on WaterAid’s global Twitter account and co-manage the global LinkedIn page with the Social Media Manger.
- Proactively identify the need for new content, working closely with the Digital Content Manager (PPA) and internal stakeholders to plan, design and develop content that engages online audiences, writing or commissioning new content as required.
- Collaborate with policy, practice and advocacy teams on developing audience-led digital content for global advocacy campaigns and moments.
- Manage the strategy and execution of digital content for key global conferences and events.
- Work closely with the Content Marketing Manager (Email) to develop and publish the WASH Matters newsletter.
- Be reactive to external trends and news, working with the media team to create digital content or both planned and unplanned media moments.
About You:
- A track record in, and passion for, digital communications and copywriting.
- Proven experience of writing and sub-editing copy for web, mobile, social media and email.
- Extensive editorial skills with an ability to translate technical information into consumable content packages.
- A solid understanding of SEO techniques, user experience and web accessibility.
- Experience of using social media, including a strategic understanding of best practice in this area, social media marketing and various monitoring tools.
- Excellent stakeholder and project management skills, diplomacy, written and verbal communication skills.
