Various Vacancies at ASUTA March 2024, Jobs Organization of Asasi ya Uwezeshaji Tanzania has secured fund from USAID Heshimu Bahari (Respect the Ocean) to implement a five years project activity that aims to enhance the ecological resilience and productivity of high marine biodiversity areas in Tanzania.
The activity will work with government agencies, communities, private sector, and civil society to establish an enabling environment and a science driven framework for sustainable marine protected areas and wild caught fishery co-management to help reduce threats to marine and coastal biodiversity within Mainland Tanzania and the Zanzibar. However, Asuta has been awarded to implement the project in Dar es Salaam and Mtwara seascapes. The following position required to be recruited immediately before the project commence.
1. Seascape Coordinators – 2 Positions

Job Description.
General Responsibilities:
The Dar es Salaam and Mtwara Resilience Seascape coordinator is responsible for marine and coastal issues, including biodiversity conservation, development and management of marine protected areas, other effective conservation measures and their networks, blue economy, ecosystem and fisheries management, marine pollution, integrated management and governance of coastal areas, adaptation to climate change and disasters risks reduction.
- Monitoring and Evaluation Contribute to the development of the Heshimu Bahari Project Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
- Responsible for the coordination of project monitoring and evaluation at the seascape level.
- Provide leadership to use data for project decision-making, for the implementation of management actions based on the findings of monitoring, and to ensure that feedback from stakeholders inform the Project Coordinator
- Lead seascape project activity reporting processes and requirements.
- Seascape coordinator will be reporting to the Project Coordinator
Qualification and Experience
An advanced degree in an appropriate field related to coastal natural resource management and conservation, marine biology, fisheries, climate change, environment, governance, social and/or political science, or related fields; Computer literacy in relation to office applications (word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint) use of internet and online communication tools;
Strong expertise and experience in engaging local stakeholders in inclusive multi-stakeholder’s governance, locally led management activities and multi-use areas, ideally at a large-scale/seascape level.
Up-to-date knowledge on climate impacts on coastal and marine systems, coastal and marine biodiversity conservation, with particular reference to the establishment and effective management of marine protected and conserved areas systems and networks at site and national levels;
2. Community Engagement Officer – 2 Positions

Job Description.
General Responsibilities:
Undertake a range of project management and coordination activities for education and community awareness projects, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation and implementing and monitoring project plans to ensure the Heshimu Bahari Education Strategy outcomes are achieved.
Create and deliver a calendar of activities such as events, forums and workshops to increase stakeholder and community awareness of marine estate values, management arrangements and promote safe and ecologically sustainable use of the marine estate.
Support the Heshimu Bahari Strategy engagement principles and approach to stakeholder engagement, including planning, designing and delivering initiatives that leverage positive relationships and build on shared objectives.
Undertake research and analysis, identify education opportunities and trends, and prepare and implement projects, to support informed decision-making and planning. Liaise with, and maintain relationships with other project implementors and key stakeholders and initiate leads in the delivery of education and engagement-related projects.
Coordinate, supervise, and manage field interventions conducted by Community Based Fisheries activity and report on deliverables. Also, s/he will play a liaison role between local community leadership, Municipal authority, and the Organization on the course of program implementation in various trainings, workshops, and meetings.
Providing comprehensive campaign for behavioral change communication within communities at risk. Focusing on negative behaviors in communities that prevent young women’s participation in social changes, self-reliance, and health services. Collaborate with the Data M&E manager/officer to prepare periodic, field, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports,
Prepare Weekly, Monthly, and quarterly reports and consolidated reports to donor with support from the Seascape coordinator. Work with the project team members ensuring training inclusion in key workshops and capacity building events. Collaborating with Stakeholders to ensure smooth implementations of project activities. And other work as directed by the Project Coordinator.
Qualification and Experience
Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Commerce (Marketing), Community Development, and Fishing related fields. 2 years’ experience in managing Fisheries Community Programs in an NGO setting planning, designing, supervising, reporting, and evaluating community for fisheries programs. Previous experience and understanding of Gender policies, community intervention, and women’s rights policies is preferred.
Experience working in key population programs is an added advantage. Demonstrated ability in managing data. Ability to develop productive working relationships with counterparts and other agencies and organizations worldwide. Aware of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multicultural/behavioural groups.
Proven leadership skills as well as skills in facilitation, team building and coordination. Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili. Willingness to work overtime for project success in the whole process towards end result.
3. Data Field Officers – 1 Position

Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Support development an ensure availability of study data collection tools.
Provide an oversight on quality data collection, collation, data entry and analysis of results using statistical techniques and provide performance reports as required. Provide supportive supervision for data collection and entry. Conduct site visits as required for trouble shooting data issues.
Develop, Review and Maintain copies of data collection forms (ensuring accurate updating as needed) and support documentation for data management. Maintain database back up and filing systems for the study data Perform and document procedures for data preparation including data cleaning, standardization and data analysis
Participate in study data and progress reviews as required with the study coordinator and partners. Ensure stock taking and supply of data collection tools and/or forms is done in a timely manner. The Data Officer will be responsible for providing high quality data entry, data management and quality control of data.
- Responsible for conducting internal data quality assessments and developing data quality improvement plans related to data entered by nurses, counselors, peer educators and others whose data pass through him/her before compilation at the regional level.
- Responsible for providing technical assistance related to data entered using tablets. This will include training providers on how to enter data, provide assistance in troubleshooting errors in the field and handling the electronic devices used for data collection.
- The person in this position must be able to work independently, be experienced in data management using electronic devices particularly Computer/tablets, and preferably be comfortable working in key population & services provision and outreach sites.
- In addition, he/she should maintain confidentiality of medical information. Client record forms must be kept where no client or other uninvolved staff has easy access to the data so as to maintain confidentiality and build trust from the clients.
- Be responsible for running outputs and cross-checking with the original data source to ensure accuracy, and running reports for data management purposes on his/her assigned team.
- And other work as directed by Seascape Coordinator.
Qualification and Experience
- Degree, Advanced Diploma or Certificate in Data Management, Computer Science, Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics or related field.
- 2 years’ experience in with electronic Data Entry and cleaning preferred experience with Marine Fisheries Activities.
- Excellent computer skills, at minimum with Microsoft office package including Word, Excel, Power point, and Access.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding organization and sensitive information contained in data sources.
- Experience of working in data analysis is an Added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability in managing teams to achieve health results.

General Responsibilities:
Monitor timely implementation of Gender-related interventions in relation HB- ASUTA priorities. Provide capacity building to the community to ensure proper planning and implementation of Gender-related activities (e.g. GBV capacity building, gender sensitization meetings to different community actors, women, and Youth Capacity building among others.
Engage in community dialogues and discussions as the strategy to mobilize against GBV and enhance women and youth empowerment Integrate GBV and messages in awareness-raising programs and mass media campaigns through advocacy campaigns and Ant-SRGBV Various Vacancies at ASUTA March 2024
Build capacity of grassroots groups of women and YOUTH through introductory meetings and training to community leaders on bad traditional norms, religious beliefs, practices, and stereotypes, which exacerbate violence against women, girls, and children.
Conduct training in gender mainstreaming; GBV, gender and safeguarding training, and capacity building as necessary. Conduct gender capacity building and women and Youth empowerment workshops and session the coverage areas.
Support mobilization and advocacy activities to address stigma, discrimination and Gender Based Violence Gather community-based information through available networks to facilitate the development and maintenance of site-level GBV-related directories for the purpose to refer and link post-GBV survivors to relevant support units
Closely monitor the quality of the Gender integration work and support effective referral and linkage post-GBV survivor linkage to medical care, police, and social/legal services. Lead regional workshops for relevant stakeholders, staff, and key actors on advocacy and Gender-related topics
Conduct supervisory visits using the ASUTA supervisory tools to assess Gender activities and their integration into the other services; as well as conduct visits to the women and Youth groups. Establish effective work relationships with communities and Districts and Community Development Offices, CMAC and VMAC partners on program activities at the regional level
Strengthen communication and collaboration with LGA at all levels to ensure ownership and sustainability of the program Raise awareness on the problem of GBV and gender equality to the community targeting Youth and Women Engage into community dialogues and discussions as the strategy to mobilize against GBV and enhanced women and girl’s empowerment

Key qualifications:
- University degree in social sciences, Gender studied public health, international development, or related field.
- 2-5 years’ progressive experience working with key population groups, and familiarity with internationally recommended policies.
- 2-5 years experience of supporting Gender Transformative and responsive interventions for GBV prevention and response programming;
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Swahili.
- Facilitation on gender transformative workshops
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning and Reporting.
Participate in data analysis and data use for programming  by population category (gender and sex disaggregate)
Conduct data analysis on community-supported groups established and a number of participants graduating against the set target per month.
Monitor regional implementation plans and progress to Gender integration intervention Conduct supportive supervision to supported sites and ensure timely report of any red flags Document experiences, prepare program and site visits reports, presentations, briefs and articles/success stories
Work collaboratively with other project team members to ensure necessary program planning, development, and management activities function smoothly and efficiently and in an integrated manner Monitor and assess community response at the project wards in the region and the entire coverage area
5. Office Administrator
Job Title: Office Administrator – Mtwara
An Office Administrator is a professional who oversees operations across their organization’s office. They are responsible for welcoming visitors, coordinating meetings, appointments and directing various administrative projects. Other duties will be: –
Maintain cleanliness and order in office premises, Ensure the offices, reception room, and boardrooms are kept neat. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Seascape Coordinator. Proven two years of experience as an office administrator, office assistant or relevant role Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Familiarity with office management procedures and basic accounting principles Excellent knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Power point and office management software. Qualifications in secretarial studies will be an advantage Diploma; BSc/BA in office administration or relevant field is preferred
