Monitoring Assistant at WFP, January 2025. The largest humanitarian organization in the world, the World Food Programme, helps people recover from violence, natural catastrophes, and the effects of climate change by saving lives in times of need and utilizing food aid to provide a road to peace, stability, and prosperity.
This job is headquartered in Kasulu, Sub Office, and reports to the Monitoring Associate in consultation with the Head of Field Office and Head of RAM.
Responsibilities
- Support the creation and execution of monthly monitoring plans for the corresponding catchment areas in coordination with the Head of RAM and the Head of Field Office, under the general direction of the Country Office (CO) M&E.
- Monitor WFP project operations, including partner performance, to ensure timely project implementation and to meet minimal monitoring criteria.
- Organize field-level data collection activities in collaboration with the CO Monitoring team, cooperating partners (CPs), the appropriate government, and other interested parties; in collaboration with the relevant program and FO, inform the CO about activity locations to guide sampling strategies.
- Utilizing questionnaires and question guides created by the CO Monitoring, assist in gathering process, output, and outcome monitoring data, including distribution monitoring, activity implementation monitoring, post-distribution monitoring, surveys, and qualitative data collection techniques (such as focus groups, group interviews, key informant interviews, and observation).
- Collect and summarize data from assistance programs; perform analysis and generate reports to support program reviews and informed decision-making. Collaborate closely with sub-national government, NGOs, CSOs, village and ward leaders, religious and community leaders, and cooperating partners.
Qualifications
Education:
It is necessary to finish secondary school. It is preferable to have a postsecondary certificate in the relevant functional area. An advantage includes having a bachelor’s degree in statistics, natural resources management, agriculture, agricultural economics, agribusiness, rural development, nutrition, or food security.
Experience:
- Possesses at least four years of relevant operational and/or monitoring experience, which includes building and digitizing monitoring data collection questionnaires, organizing project implementation and monitoring activities, gathering monitoring data, performing quantitative and qualitative analyses, and reporting results to partners, management, and other stakeholders.
- Has collaborated with technical teams (e.g., food security analysis, nutrition, agriculture, etc.).
- Has aided in the execution of initiatives supporting livelihood support, resilience development, food assistance, and smallholder farmer support.
- Possess prior expertise working with horticulture crops.
- Possess expertise in implementing environmentally friendly agricultural techniques and sustainable farming systems.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in data analysis and monitoring of program output and outcome data.
- general familiarity with monitoring tools, procedures, systems, and standards.
- data collection, analysis, and presentation utilizing statistical and presentation tools including PowerPoint, Excel, and SPSS.
- experience overseeing or carrying out community- or village-based projects directly.
