In collaboration with the department heads, the Finance Manager (FM) is in charge of overseeing the Finance Departmentās planning, directing, coordinating, and carrying out of KIUMAās daily financial activities. The CEO in Tanzania, the Wortundtat, Germany, and/or a government or donor representative to KIUMA are the FMās direct supervisors.
Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Create and put into action financial plans that complement the abattoirās overarching objectives.
- Offer financial analysis and suggestions to assist the executive team in making decisions.
Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the creation of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure conformity with international accounting standards and local regulations.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Oversee the yearly budgeting process and work with department heads to make sure it aligns with business goals.
- Analyze variances and track financial performance against budgets.
Risk Management:
- Determine and evaluate financial risks and suggest ways to mitigate them in order to protect the abattoirās financial stability.
- Keep yourself updated on business-affecting regulatory changes, industry advancements, and economic trends.
Financial Operations:
- Oversee daily financial activities, such as payroll, treasury, accounts payable, and receivable.
- Establish and uphold strong internal controls to protect resources and guarantee truthful financial reporting.
Cash Management:
- Improve cash flow by managing payables, receivables, and working capital well.
- Assess potential investments and offer suggestions to optimize profits.
Audit and Compliance:
- In order to facilitate yearly audits and guarantee adherence to regulatory standards, coordinate with external auditors.
- Implement and monitor internal audit procedures to identify and address potential issues.
Strategic financial decision-making:
- Support important business choices, investments, and expansion plans with strategic financial information.
- Work together with corporate leadership to determine whether new projects are financially feasible.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Oversee and guide the finance team while promoting a culture of responsibility, competence, and ongoing development.
- Encourage training and professional growth to improve the teamās competencies.
OCCASIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend accountant meetings, seminars, or workshops outside of KIUMA, such as TRA and NBAA seminars, on behalf of KIUMA.
- To enhance the departmentās services, schedule frequent meetings with the finance team.
- Participate in the Task Force Committee and other KUMA staff committees.
Academic and Professional Qualification
- A bachelorās degree in accounting, finance, or a similar discipline is required; an MBA or professional financial certification is considered desirable. (an accountant registered with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA) who is qualified as a CPA (T) or ACCA).
- Shown leadership abilities and senior finance management experience
- Familiarity with Tanzanian financial rules and international accounting standards
- Outstanding communication, strategic thinking, and analytical abilities
- A capable leader and team player who can work with cross-functional teams
- A Public Accountant with Certification
- A minimum of three (3) years of combined leadership experience from a respectable company in a similar role.
Experience
- A minimum of three yearsā experience working in financial management.
- A minimum of two yearsā experience overseeing donor monies across several initiatives.
- Two years or more of familiarity with accounting software, particularly Sage Pastel.
