Responsibilities
- Assure adherence to all legal requirements as well as Barrick’s environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
- Use an incident report to document any health, safety, and environmental (HSE) concerns.
- Daily upkeep Examining and operating fixed plant equipment.
- Achieve the finalization of work completion details in compliance with work requirements and procedures.
- Observe Barrick and OEM safety standards and procedures for maintaining and storing mechanical tools and equipment.
- Assess task risk using JHA and FLRA.
- Verify the fixed plant’s operation within reasonable bounds and report any deviations.
- Follow the guidelines for lockout permits and isolation.
- Respect workplace safety laws, rules, and guidelines.
- Carries out excellent planned and impromptu repairs of any mechanical equipment while adhering to safety, environmental, and applicable laws and requirements.
- Keep your workspace hygienic and safe for the environment by using the 5S principle.
- Obtain and keep up the necessary licenses and authorizations to do assigned tasks, such as basic rigging, working at heights, and forklift operation.
- Utilize welders, cutters, shapers, and measuring instruments to fabricate and assemble metal equipment and structures.
- Make, weld, and install Y pieces, reducers, bends, pipelines, boxes, and chutes.
- Fix and maintain metal structures and equipment of all sizes.
- To ascertain operations, necessary materials, and project timelines, examine and analyze schematics, drawings, and blueprints.
- When repairing chutes, steel tanks, pipes, and steel structures, use optimum maintenance practices.
- For new steel structures and any steel work repairs, apply standard paint.
- Examine welded components, surfaces, and structures to find mistakes.
- In order to get leaks, weak places, and damaged portions fixed, inspect pressure vessels, tanks, chutes, and pipes.
Qualification requirements
- Technical/ Vocational School, Apprenticeship training, on-the-job training (FTC, VETA, IMTT Trade Test or its Equivalent).
- Sound knowledge of Mining Safety Regulations and best practice.
Experience and competencies needed
- Minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience working on Heavy Mobile Equipment in surface operations.
- Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment.
- Previous maintenance experience in industrialized plant is beneficial.
- Experience using multiple welding machines including the arc welder, TIG, and MIG.
- Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
- Experience in open cast and Underground mining essential.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Hazard identification and Risk assessment.
- Understand technical drawings and manuals.
- VETA Driving Certificate.
- Possess a Valid Tanzanian driving license class B, C, D and E
- Able to Drive Manual Transmission/Stick Shift Transmission.
- Strong technical and strategic planning-related experience and background.
- Ability to consistently manage such a diversified portfolio in a high-pressure environment.
