Dar es Salaam. The President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, expects to lead Tanzanians to receive the first Boeing 767-300F cargo plane of Tanzania Airlines (ATCL) tomorrow, June 3, 2023 at Julius Kambarage Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam.
The cargo plane, which is the first to be purchased in Tanzania, is expected to be a savior for businessmen who were facing the challenges of transporting cargo abroad and having to use neighboring countries where the cost is high.
The purchase of the plane is the implementation of the Government’s strategy to strengthen the operation of ATCL where according to the Government Spokesman Gerson Msigwa, the initial payment for the purchase of two Boeing 737-9 aircraft, one De Havilland Dash aircraft 8-Q400, and one Boeing 787-8 has already been delivered.
Nukta Habari has conducted research to determine the characteristics of the cargo plane that will land tomorrow as well as its performance to see how it will meet the needs of Tanzanians in the air transport sector.
It is the offspring of Boeing 767 versions.
The American Boeing aircraft company began producing versions of the Boeing 767 in 1993 after receiving an order for 60 cargo planes from the United States Government, where it officially entered the market in 1995 after the completion of its tests.
Previous models of the design include the 757-300, 757-200, and the 747, which have been upgraded at different times to meet market needs.
The plane has been improved from the 767 model passenger planes, which is to increase the size of the fuel tank, the ability to stay in the air as well as being made of aluminum which made the plane lighter than others of the group.

“The arrival of the plane will bring benefits to farmers and traders of vegetables, flowers, meat, fish, minerals and facilitate the transportation of goods imported by the government as well as workers, especially hospital drugs”, said Prof Mbarawa
Mbarawa added that they expect to use the plane to serve transportation in regional and international centers such as Nairobi, Dubai, Guangzhou, Harare, Kinshasa and Mumbai.
