Good Neighbors Tanzania is looking for individuals to join our highly motivated team in the following role:
Position: Accounts Officer (1-Position)
Project Name: Enhancing the Quality of Secondary School Education through a Holistic Approach in Zanzibar (EQSSE-Z)
Reports to: Finance Manager
Location: Mbweni-Zanzibar
Contract Duration: 1.2 Year (Renewable subject to funding availability and performance)
Objective
As part of the KOICA project, Good Neighbors Tanzania—Zanzibar Area Office (GNTZ-ZAO) is working to improve secondary school instruction and learning by implementing learner-centered pedagogy in classrooms, bolstering teacher support services, enhancing learning environments, and conducting more community engagement through school-based monitoring in Zanzibar. Thus, GNTZ-ZAO would like to extend an invitation to a skilled and seasoned individual who can collaborate with us with enthusiasm.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilizing the necessary accounting package system and execution status each month to prepare the monthly financial report.
- Creating bank payment vouchers with the proper funding sources and project allocation for all authorized budget requests
- Using Quickbook to record transactions
- Creating and completing the project and administrative account’s monthly bank reconciliation report
- Assess internal management processes, systems, and hazards to make suggestions.
- Creating monthly check ledgers for each bank account manager, scanning, and writing checks for all expenses.
- Monthly Staff Contribution Preparation for ZSSF, NHIF, and TRA Return and HESLB
- Assure adherence to tax and accounting regulations by completing office paperwork and filing it appropriately.
- Create project budgets on a regular basis.
Qualifications, Experiences, and Competencies
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in business administration, accounting, or a similar discipline.
- Over six years of relevant job experience.
- Proficiency in Swahili and English
- Outstanding proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Familiarity with computerized accounting software (Quick Book can be useful for non-profit organizations).
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective interpersonal abilities in a global, multinational setting.
- Cooperative, adaptable, fast-thinking, and capable of doing well under duress.
- Dedication to the mission, values, vision, and objectives of the company.

Working Environment / Conditions
- Workplace: Located in Zanzibar’s Mbweni Office
- Office work: 90% in the vicinity of Mbweni, Zanzibar
- Fieldwork: 10%.
