“To enhance the health of people by collaborating with and empowering communities and improving health systems” is the stated goal of Amref Health Africa-Tanzania, an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO). HIV/AIDS/TB/Malaria, reproductive, maternity, newborn, and child health, water and sanitation, and clinical outreach are among the activities that Amref Health Africa-Tanzania does with the help of national, bilateral, and multilateral funders.
Job Summary
The project manager will lead the execution of Enhancing Epilepsy Care in Africa-Tanzania and provide technical assistance and overall project management.
The project manager will oversee high-level coordination, engage stakeholders, and manage relationships between the donor, consortium partners, the President’s Office Regional Authority and Local Government, the Ministry of Health, and Amref Health Africa-Tanzania.
By coordinating and overseeing the execution of the project’s scheduled activities, they will give the project team managerial support and guarantee an integrated service delivery in primary healthcare institutions. In accordance with the overall project objectives, they will supervise the monitoring of project achievement.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management
- Oversee the project on a daily basis in accordance with donor policies and regulations as well as those of Amref Health Africa-Tanzania.
- By appropriately involving stakeholders and project staff, you can guarantee the timely and effective accomplishment of project objectives.
- Give project personnel sound technical advice to improve COVID-19 vaccine dissemination and correspond with MOH priorities.
- Oversee the creation and application of the project’s technical strategies in accordance with the authorized project proposal as well as national and international regulations.
- Oversee the creation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual project work plans in accordance with work plans authorized by donors.
- Throughout the implementation phase, make sure that all actions are in line with the budget and work plan that the donor has approved.
- Oversee project management in general, including budget, work plans, personnel, and activities.
- Oversee the project’s budget and make sure all expenditures adhere to the donor-approved plan and adhere to financial management guidelines, such as accountability and sound governance.
- To support project execution, integrated primary health care program strategic priorities, ongoing quality improvement, and knowledge product development, offer technical assistance in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL) and evidence collection across nations.
- Keep up positive ties with MOH, PORALG, and project region stakeholders.
- Serve as a vital point of contact for Amref-Tanzania and the project’s stakeholders.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Offer technical assistance in the creation of the MEAL framework for the project.
- For planned M&E activities, give the M&E officer technical advice.
- Assure prompt technical and financial reporting both internally and externally, adhering to donor-specific specifications and pertinent laws and regulations.
- Take the lead in weekly stakeholder review meetings and write project-related technical reports in accordance with donor specifications and internal needs.
- Contribute technical advice and supervision to the creation of knowledge products and encourage lifelong learning to support national and international initiatives to address epilepsy.
Supervisory Roles
- Monitor all project employees to ensure they adhere to Amref’s rules and guidelines.
- To improve performance, determine the needs for staff development, offer coaching and mentoring, and connect them to opportunities for training and growth.
- Lead Amref’s staff culture initiatives to improve teamwork throughout the company.
- Assist project personnel in following operational guidelines and establishing benchmarks for financial and project management practices.
- Perform any additional tasks that the supervisor assigns you.
Qualification and Experience
Education
- It is necessary to have a Master’s degree or above in social sciences, public health, or health communication.
Experience
- Five or more years of experience overseeing projects at the national and subnational levels.
- Knowledgeable about carrying out epilepsy programs and public health interventions.
- Thorough understanding of the nation’s current best practices for treating epilepsy.
- Proven expertise in collaborating with MOH, PORALG, RHMT, and CHMT.
- Proven ability to collaborate in groups and build solid relationships with pertinent national, regional, and local stakeholders.
- Proven capacity to establish and preserve productive working relationships with government employees, stakeholders, national and local partners, international donor organizations, MOH, PORALG, RHMT, and CHMT.
- Expertise and knowledge gained from working in Tanzania’s healthcare system.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated managerial expertise in overseeing employees in cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding writing and verbal communication abilities, as well as the capacity to engage with people both inside and outside the company.
- Strong speech-presenting and writing abilities in Swahili and English.
- Outstanding time management abilities, including the capacity to complete several projects and adhere to strict deadlines without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
- The capacity to oversee a high-volume work flow while working independently.
- Proficiency in computer software, including at least Microsoft Word and Excel, is necessary.
