Reporting to: Tax & Treasury Manager
Location: Dar es Salaam
Role: Temporary: 11 months
Purpose
To efficiently serve the business while guaranteeing adherence to all tax-related issues.
Responsibilities
- To guarantee complete adherence to statutory tax laws. To prevent fines and other non-compliance risk exposures, this means making sure that tax forms and payments are accurately completed and timely filed to the revenue authority, that accurate taxes are paid on time, etc. This entails correctly interpreting the laws’ requirements and adhering to statutory tax deadlines.
- To keep track of the month-end closure dates and clearing for every tax account and ledger (tax, statutory, and IFRS). Review taxes, complete GL tax accounts and tax stamp reconciliations on time, and report any anomalies to the appropriate staff for correction.
- Tax provisioning, Q-tax packets, entity tax compliance reporting, uncertain tax positions, and maintaining the indirect tax manual and internal controls current are just a few of the ways that you may help with tax risk management and reporting.
- Provide tax advice to the company in accordance with government laws and regulations by supporting the tax and Treasury management. Monitor market developments and tax-related adjustments.
- Preserving cordial relations with TRA and managing different tax audits as they may occasionally occur.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance from a university with appropriate tax and accounting credentials
- At least one year of experience in a comparable setting at a tax firm or multinational corporation.
- Good English communication skills.
- Solid understanding of tax laws and rules.
- Outstanding proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office (Words, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Experience working with tax businesses or having business skills in the FMCG sector will be beneficial.
