Job Purpose Summary
In order to identify needs and evaluate current social policies, plans, and programs meant to address such needs, the Social Welfare Officer position focuses on keeping an eye on the nation’s social situations. The position entails planning, carrying out, and overseeing social welfare initiatives to provide target populations with necessary services.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Observe all systems, regulations, and procedures set forth by Qatar Charity.
- Participate in the creation of Qatar Charity’s social welfare and sponsorship policies.
- Work to fulfill the sponsorship and social welfare goals of Qatar Charity.
- Assist in creating yearly plans in accordance with the planning skills development program processes of the association.
- Create welfare and social sponsorship initiatives, then submit them for approval to headquarters via the Field Office Manager.
- Oversee the execution of authorized projects, making sure that objectives are fulfilled on schedule and within budget.
- Verify that implementing partners are adhering to the conditions of the contract.
- In particular, allowing sponsored individuals to take advantage of humanitarian aid and economic empowerment during disasters or seasonal programs requires constant coordination with the Programs and Activities Officer.
- Determine and record the finest practices in social welfare and sponsorships, then make suggestions for enhancements to headquarters.
- Participate in the mobilization of various types of assistance for the sponsorship and social welfare initiatives of Qatar Charity.
Authorities and Powers
- Oversee sponsorship and social welfare employees, making sure they carry out their duties effectively.
- Assess the work of the employees in the social welfare and sponsorship division.
- Prior to submission to headquarters, approve sponsorship requests in accordance with Qatar Charity & Sponsorship requirements.
- Regularly check and update the database of sponsored beneficiaries.
- In order to guarantee prompt and accurate payment distribution, audit and approve sponsored beneficiaries’ quarterly lists.
- Provide training courses to increase implementing partners’ proficiency.
- Examine and accept reports from social supervisors.
- Interact with implementing partners and find additional partners who share the goals and approved plan.
Position Goals
- Execute initiatives to meet the goals of Qatar Charity and the Social Welfare Section.
- Develop and restructure the Section on Sponsorship and Social Welfare.
- Investigate fresh funding sources for the division.
- Form solid alliances with governmental bodies and civil society groups engaged in sponsorship and social assistance.
Qualifications and Professional Certifications
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree/master’s degree in social science or related field.
Professional Experience:
- More than seven years of experience.
Other Experiences:
- Experience in delivering social services.
- Experience in information management and preparing development-related reports.
- Proficiency in using computers, especially office software.
- Full proficiency in Arabic and English, or the official language of the country.
