Ajira Wizara ya Ulinzi na Jeshi la Kujenga Taifa 2024, Jobs Founded in 1995, the Ministry of Defense and National Service (MoDNS) is a fully functional ministry. Prior to then, the Ministry of State carried out the duties of this Ministry from 1972 to 1989 and from 1989 to November 1995, respectively, under the authority of the President’s Office and the Second Vice President’s Office. The ministry’s previous name was the Ministry of Defense and External Affairs before Zanzibar and Tanganyika united.
In addition to defending state sovereignty and the interests of the United Republic of Tanzania, the Ministry is in charge of national defense. The principal organizations tasked with carrying out this duty are:
i. The TPDF, or Tanzanian Peoples Defense Forces; ii. Services National; Institutions for Military Research and Development (iii). In addition to these executing agencies, the Ministry oversees all policies, acts as a facilitator, and acts as the main administrator.

The Ministry of Defence and National Service (MoDNS) is a fully fledged Ministry that was established since 1995. Before that the function of this Ministry were performed by then the Ministry of state under the auspices of the Second Vice President’s Office and the President’s Office from 1972 to 1989 and 1989 to November 1995 respectively. Before the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar the ministry was known as the Ministry of Defence and External affairs.
