Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) Vacancies March 2024, Jobs Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) was established under the Meteorological Authority Act No. 2 of 2019, as per Government Announcement GN 459 dated 14 June 2019. Its mandate encompasses coordinating, overseeing, and delivering meteorological services across the United Republic of Tanzania.
This initiative stems from the recognition that the provision of weather services in Tanzania was formalized by the agency’s law, detailed in the Executive Agency Act, Chapter No. 245, referencing the year 2022. Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) Vacancies March 2024 Prior to the establishment of the weather agency, weather services in the country were managed by the former Directorate of Meteorology, established in 1977 following the dissolution of the East African Community. This directorate was responsible for weather observations and information dissemination across the country. Preceding the East African Community era, weather services fell under the purview of the Weather Institute during colonial rule.
Furthermore, the Authority is custodian to the National Meteorological College, situated in Kigoma (www.nmtc.ac.tz).
