Mkuranga District is one of the 9 Coastal Region Districts. It is located between latitude 6o.35 o and 7o.15o South of the Equator; and Longitude 38o.15o and 39o.30o East Meridian. Mkuranga District is bordered by Temeke District on the North side, Ilala on the North West side, on the South side it is bordered by Kibiti District, on the East side it is bordered by the Indian Ocean and on the West side it is bordered by Kisarawe District. Mkuranga District has an area of 2432 Km of square meters of which Km. of 447 square meters are water (Indian Ocean) and Km. of 1985 square meters of land where the area km. 1934 square meters suitable for agriculture.
Mkuranga District is located in the eastern part of the Indian Ocean Coast. The climate is satisfactory, the District receives rain in 2 periods a year. The period from November to December (Autumn) and the period from March to June (Spring Rains). On average, the District receives between 800 and 1,000 mm of rain per year and an average temperature of 28 degrees.
