MATHEMATICS TEACHER
We seek an enthusiastic teacher of Mathematics at the MYP and DP level. Applicants should possess a degree in Math or Math education, a teaching qualification and at least three years of experience teaching an international curriculum. Teachers with experience in IB are preferred. As part of the philosophy at UWCEA all secondary teachers have a portion of their teaching allotment set aside for working in the residential setting. There are full-time positions on both campuses starting in August 2024.
COLLEGE COUNSELLOR
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic College Counsellor. You will be responsible for working with students as they decide their post-school plans. Whilst much of the work will be with the school’s IB Diploma graduating class, our counselling programme starts with our students in the MYP. Experience of international college and university admission processes is essential as every year we have over seventy students applying to North America, Europe and the Middle East. Minimum qualifications are a first degree and teaching qualification. This is a full-time position on our Arusha Campus starting in August 2024.
DESIGN TEACHER
We seek a dedicated and passionate Design teacher at the MYP and DP level. Applicants should possess a degree in Design, a teaching qualification and at least three years of experience teaching an international curriculum. Teachers with experience in IB are preferred. Applicants should possess a degree in History and/or Global Politics, a teaching qualification and at least three years of experience teaching an international curriculum. HEAD/DEPUTY HEAD OF ARUSHA CAMPUS
UWC East Africa seeks a Deputy Head of Campus for the Arusha Campus. The successful candidate should be energetic, dynamic and willing to join a vibrant and collegial staff. Due to the nature of the UWC environment the Deputy Head of Campus acts as the lead of academics within the campus along with other responsibilities. More of these responsibilities lie in the Secondary School due to student demographics, so previous administrative experience in an IB MYP/DP School would be an advantage. The Deputy Head of Campus also needs to be technologically proficient, as they are the person with oversight for the student information system and other software systems. In the past, the role has come with a part-time teaching responsibility so please indicate which area of the taught curriculum you will be able to support. Minimum qualifications are a first degree and teaching qualification. This is a full-time position on our Arusha Campus starting in August 2024.
SPANISH AND FRENCH TEACHER
We seek a dedicated and passionate Spanish and French teacher at the MYP and DP level. This role would teach Spanish ab initio at the DP level and French at the MYP level. Applicants should possess a degree in languages or Language education, a teaching qualification and at least three years of experience teaching an international curriculum. I&S/HUMANITIES TEACHER
We seek a passionate and engaging humanities teacher for primarily MYP Individuals & Societies. Applicants should possess a degree in History, Geography, Humanities education or similar field, a teaching qualification and at least three years of experience teaching an international curriculum. Teachers with experience in IB are preferred. As part of the philosophy at UWCEA all secondary teachers have a portion of their teaching allotment set aside for working in the residential setting. This is a full-time position on our Moshi Campus starting in August 2024.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Any applications for either Moshi or Arusha Campus should include a full CV/résumé and the names and addresses (including e-mail addresses) of three professional referees. It is important to include details of any family members who may accompany you; we are unlikely to offer employment to a spouse unless as part of a teaching couple and local employment opportunities are extremely limited. Current Tanzanian regulations mean that we are only able to consider teachers under fifty five years of age who have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience.
As a minimum requirement, all applicants for teaching positions must have a first degree and a teaching qualification that entitles them to teach in their home country. International teaching experience is also desired. All teachers of diploma level subjects are required to have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience at a similar level, such as IB Diploma, AP, or Advanced Level experience.
For many teaching positions, experience of teaching IB PYP, MYP or Diploma (as appropriate) will be a significant advantage, but is not specifically required.
