Important Information regarding SUA Accommodation.
The university has a number of hostels at MC and SMC that cater for undergraduate and postgraduate accommodation needs. Currently, the university facilities have a carrying capacity of 3,728 students. These facilities are managed by Sokoine University of Agriculture Housing and Accommodation Bureau (SUAHAB).
Accommodation services are coordinated by the Sokoine University of Agriculture Housing and Accommodation Bureau (SUAHAB).

SUAHAB has accommodation space of 3626 undergraduate students and 102 postgraduate students which make a total capacity of 3728 students as shown below:-

Since the accommodation facilities are not adequate, SUAHAB has devised a prioritization system for allocating room to students. Hence students may be offered accommodation in the University residence in order of the priority as following:-

- Students with physical disability/health challenges
- International Students
- First year students
- Female students
- Finalist students (males)
- Continuing students (males)NB: Kihonda Hostels are free for any interested undergraduate students regardless of above priority order.
RATES OF SUA ACCOMMODATION PAYMENTS
(a) Postgraduate Programmes
Rooms are not shared. Accommodation fee is TShs. 912,500.00 per student per year plus depreciation fee (non refundable) of TShs. 20,000.00.
The total payment is TShs. 932,500.00 for local students and USD 1,200 for international students.All payment should be made in one installment and in advance.
(b) Undergraduate and non-degree programmes
Rooms are shared by two to six students
(i) First year
International Students: Accommodation fee is USD 140 per student per year.
Local students : Accommodation fee is TShs. 176,320.00 per first year student per year (TShs. 10,000.00 depreciation fee non-refundable inclusive) for main campus hostels, Nicholas A. Kuhanga, Ex-NBC Flats and Solomon Mahlangu Campus.
Accommodation fee for Kihonda hostel is TShs. 94,480.00 per first year student per year (TShs. 10,000.00 depreciation fee non refundable inclusive).
(ii) Continuing and finalists
International Students: Accommodation fee is USD 140 per student per year.
Local students : Accommodation fee is total payment of TShs. 161,910.00 per continuing student per year for main campus hostels, Nicholas A. Kuhanga, Ex-NBC Flats and Solomon Mahlangu Campus.
Accommodation fee for Kihonda Hostel is TShs. 82,240.00. per student per year.
ROOM RESERVATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2018/2019
A room can be reserved after paying in advance full accommodation fee of USD 70 per undergraduate student per semester and USD 1,200 per postgraduate student per year.
All payments must be made in advance through CRDB Account No. 01J1076769835. Make sure your full name, Registration number, hostel and room number appear on bank pay-in-slip.
ACCOMMODATION DURING LONG VACATION
a) Field Practical
(i) SUA local students: TShs.1,250.00 per day per bed
(ii) Local students from other institutions: Tshs.1,350.00 per day per bed.
(iii) International students : USD 1.1 (or equivalent Tshs.) per day per bed.
b) Probation examinations:
(i) Local students: Tshs. 630.00 per day per bed
(iii) International students : USD 0.50 (or equivalent Tshs.) per day per bed.
c) Seminars, conference, games and sports: Tshs. 6,000.00 per day per bed.
