New Open Positions at EWURA January 2024, EWURA Act, Cap 414 of Tanzanian statutes established the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), an independent multi-sectoral regulatory body. In accordance with Cap 414 and sector legislation, it is in charge of the technical and financial control of Tanzania’s water, natural gas, petroleum, and power sectors. In addition to issuing licenses, EWURA also has the authority to set rules, regulate rates and charges, monitor the performance of the regulated sectors, mediate complaints and disputes between consumers and service providers of regulated goods and services, and distribute information about topics pertinent to its duties.

The goal of EWURA is to “be a World Class Regulator for Sustainable Energy and Water Services.” Its mission statement is to “regulate energy and water utilities in a transparent, effective, and efficient manner that ensures their quality, availability, and affordability.” Petroleum does not include coal or other material that may be recovered from coal or other rocks. Instead, petroleum refers to any naturally existing hydrocarbon, whether in gaseous, liquid, or solid phases, or in any naturally occurring mixture of hydrocarbons.
