You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to expand the company’s
customer base, optimize operational efficiency, and ensure the smooth functioning of day-to-day
operations. This position requires a strong understanding of the logistics industry, exceptional
communication skills, and the ability to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development:
- Identify and target potential customers, including shipping lines, freight forwarders, importers, and exporters.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers to drive customer retention and satisfaction.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and competitoranalysis.
- Create and execute business development strategies to expand the customer base and increase revenue.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote the company’s services.
- Operations Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the inland container depot, ensuring smooth functioning and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize operational efficiency, including yard management, container handling, and cargo clearance.
- Implement best practices and operational processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to meet operational targets.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and security protocols
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of operations staff, including supervisors, yard controllers, and administrative personnel.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovative ideas and solutions.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the annual budget for the ICD, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost control.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and implement measures to achieve financial objectives.
- Prepare regular financial reports and present them to senior management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in business development and operations management, preferably in the logistics or container depot industry.
- Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including container handling, yard management, and cargo clearance processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Ability to analyze market trends and develop effective business strategies.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for operations and financial management.
