Before it was fully and legally recognized, it was known as Tanzania Youth and Women Foundation (TYWF). It was later changed its name to Door of Hope to Women and Youth Tanzania (DHWYT) and registered in 2017 under the NGOs Act, 2002. and from there commenced, implementation of programs in different regions in Tanzania mainland with a goal of Supporting and Empowering Tanzanians’ Youth and Women to realize their potentials and utilize national opportunities for sustainable socioeconomic development
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Law or a certificate for legal aid providers from a recognized institution Attended training in Organizational Development. Gender Trainings Attended several Human rights trainings. Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice is an added advantage.
1.3 JOB SKILL SPECIFICATIONS
(i) Key competencies Formal training in relevant fields including security management training. A minimum of one-year professional experience, ideally with some experience with nonprofit organizations or academic organizations. Excellent communication skills, particularly when dealing with an international, multilingual audience. Ability to handle multiple projects under time and resource pressure. Comprehensive knowledge in the field of human rights law and human rights security management. Extensive knowledge and experience in the application of the laws and international instruments. Have a wide knowledge in the field of human rights

One year experience in the Field of Human Rights Experience with UN and Regional human rights mechanisms. Experience with UN and regional protection mechanisms on human rights. Attended security management training.
2.0 JOB DESCRIPTION
2.1 . Supervision:
This position is a volunteering opportunity under the auspices of the Door of Hope Tanzania. The Executive Director on behalf of the Board is the overall in charge on the human resources matters of the organization. Legal aid officer will be the organization’s officer on all matters pertaining to legal aid. He /She will be under the Supervision of the Head of Programs on behalf of the Executive Director who is the head of the organization. In this respect the Legal Aid Officer will have the following duties.
Defined and Assigned Responsibilities:
(i) SERVICES DUTIES:
Conduct interviews with the people seeking legal aid and establish facts for legal aid services. Conduct legal research and establish facts for legal aid. Conduct monitoring of human right cases Receiving all complaints concerning people seeking for legal aid service Develop and manage protection tools for people seeking legal aid. Attend security management trainings. Be Centre of communication with people seeking legal aid
(ii) REPORTING LINE:
The legal aid officer will report to The Head of Programs
(iii) DUTY STATION:
The duty station for the legal aid officer shall be in Mtwara District, Mtwara Municipal Council – at Door of Hope Tanzania, Legal Aid Center, Shangani Ward
(iv) SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Monitor all human rights cases provided with legal aid and assess their progress. Ensure development of file management system of human rights cases under the organizational support Develop legal aid services program budget requirements. Effort-Mental and Physical; the volunteer will need to, Adjust to rapid change in the office and schedule. Adjust rapidly to different task and maintain conflicting deadlines. Avoid mixing your duties with external duties. 2.4. Accountability In the day-to-day activities, the officer will be responsible to the Head of Programs on behalf of the Executive Director. Reporting time: 8.00 am and sign the attendance book for five days per week. Working hours 8.00 am – 5.00 pm.
