The main aim of Bachelor Of Education In Arts programme is to produce teachers with skills in philosophical reasoning about problems in regard to education. It is designed to assist student-teachers to develop their ability in critical thinking, divergent thinking and power of creative mind in dealing with educational problems.
What and how will you learn?
In this degree programme every student has to take courses in two teaching subjects; one being major subject while the other being minor subject as well as educational courses. Learning in this programme will include lectures, independent reading from different sources, seminar presentations, practical assignments and Practical Training.
Entry requirements for Bachelor Of Education In Arts
Direct entry qualifications
Two principal passes in any of the following two Arts subjects: Kiswahili, English, Literature, History, Geography, French, Arabic or Economics.
Equivalent entry qualifications
Diploma in Education, Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, Diploma in Secondary Education, with specialization in language subjects (English, Kiswahili, Arabic, French) and social science subjects (History, Geography, Economics) teaching subjects with an average of “B” or GPA of 3.0 and either four passes at “O” Level for Form Six leavers or Certificate in Teaching (Grade A) for non –form six leavers.
The graduates from this programme are competent and qualified teachers and tutors who are highly demanded to teach in government and private secondary schools and teachers’ colleges.
