The major focus of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme is to graduate professional nurses capable of delivering safe health care in local, regional and international health care systems. The programme prepares professional general trained nurses with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude required for the delivery of high quality and culturally sensitive services. After graduation the nurses will be eligible for registration by the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC).
What and how will you learn in Bachelor Of Science In Nursing?
The programme starts with a foundation knowledge in the basic sciences, humanities and related professional disciplines in the first year, followed by the body of related nursing knowledge, skills and attitude in subsequent years. These assist the graduates to acquire the critical thinking skills relevant for competent and professional practice. The curriculum is a four year programme organized in eight semesters each consisting of 20 weeks followed by one year internship in hospitals approved by the ministry of Health and Social welfare.
Entry requirements
Direct entry qualifications Three principal passes in Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Advanced Mathematics or Nutrition with a minimum of 6 points: A minimum of C grade in Chemistry and D grade in Biology and at least E grade in Physics or Advanced Mathematics or Nutrition.
Equivalent entry qualifications
Diploma in Nursing with an average of āBāā or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of āDā grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.
