Objectives.
- Enhance capacity building to communities about environmental protection
- Promoting adoption of alternative to forest resources
- Promoting Ecotourism in the communities
- Implement biodiversity monitoring program in natural forests under the field station – Udzungwa Ecological Monitoring Centre (www.udzungwacentre.org)
- Assessing the status of biodiversity, both fauna and flora, and its variation in space and time.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Programme Coordinator (PC). The PC will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating our conservation projects around the Udzungwa Mountains.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all project activities, by overseeing grants, budgets, and work plans.
- Liaise with and report to the international manager, based in Italy.
- Manage office’s assets and premises.
- Coordinate local managers in charge of specific activity lines (environmental education, energy efficiency, agroforestry and tree planting).
- Coordinate the preparation of quarterly and annual reports for all projects.
- Support the international manager in fundraising efforts, including leading grant applications.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with government authorities, communities, and partner organizations.
- Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise.
- Use tools to monitor working hours, staff performance, plans and expenditures.
- To comply with the organization’s constitution and all guidelines as outlined in the organization’s policies, including financial manual, procurement policy, human resource manual, and other policies.
- To cooperate with other project managers of organization in fulfilling the organizational goals and objectives.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience in project management, report writing, and team management,
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Environmental Science, Conservation, Agroforestry, Nature management, etc.); M.Sc. may be an advantage,
- Working experience in community-based conservation and or environmental program, or related field,
- Project management skills; including strong organizational, leadership and communication skills,
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders,
- Passion for biodiversity conservation and environmental protection,
- Be able to control and monitor budgets,
- Be good at problem solving,
- Excellent time-management skills and being able to plan daily workload and to complete deliverables on time,
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili,
- Competence working with people with different skills, background, and cultures,
- Have a valid driving license,
- Some experience with non-profit fundraising including grant proposal writing and reporting preferred.
- Willing to be based in Mang’ula,
